Day 6: Cabeibusha the curly gem premiering this Friday and Saturday in Sylt

The wind may have been absent on day six of the Davidoff Cool Water Sylt PWA World Cup, but the glorious weather continued with wall-to-wall sunshine and a fun SUP Race was held to provide the entertainment.

8 teams battled it out for the €2,000 prize purse and after a tough battle Team 2, consisting of Amanda Beenen (99NoveNove / Point-7), Sebastian Kornum (NeilPryde), Nicklas Borgen (JP / NeilPryde), Rasmus Oegelund (Patrik / Sailloft Hamburg), Steve Allen (Starboard / Severne) and Enrico Marotti (RRD / NeilPryde), came out on top as they defeated Team 5 — Caterina Stenta (RRD / RRD / Maui Ultra Fins), Malte Reuscher (JP / NeilPryde), Andrea Ferin (RRD / Challenger Sails / AL360), Mateus Isaac (Starboard / NeilPryde), Jordy Vonk (Starboard / Point-7), Nick van den Eerenbeemt (JP / NeilPryde).

Earlier in the day we also caught up with Sarah-Quita Offringa (Starboard / NeilPryde / Mystic / Maui Ultra Fins), to find out more about her new movie ‘Cabeibusha the curly gem’ which premiers on the 2nd and 3rd of October at Kinowelt, Westerland, Strandstr 9 at 9pm.

Sarah-Quita: “Cabeibusha is SQ’s nickname and literally translated from Papiamento it means ‘ wild hair’ We've been working on Cabeibusha for the past eight months. In the past, windsurfing movies focused mostly on action. With this movie we hope to give the viewer a taste of the lifestyle of a windsurfer.”


“We're taking you with us to explore Australia and Iceland and you'll see what life on tour is like. Through it all, Aruba will play the main role. Hope you guys like this trailer by Broken Bloke Productions!”

The forecast for tomorrow looks more promising with 10-14 knots being predicted, so there will be a chance of further racing or possibly freestyle. The skippers’ meetings have been called for 10am with the first possible start at 10:30am. There will also be another tow in session open to all freestylers and wave sailors — Please come and sign up for this tomorrow at 11:00am to 12pm, The first trials will take place tomorrow at 15:00. The second trials will take place on Saturday at 11:30, with a final on Saturday at 15:00.
