A Swell Time in GC

Eleazar Alonso scores some super-sized North Gran Canarian rides!

When pictures like the one above drop into your inbox it's almost impossible not to feel envious. Normally you can forgive those residing in tropical locations for such wave perfection, but to make matters worse, these are European monsters. Next time we'll pay more attention to the forecast, just like Eleazar Alonso (Naish, Naish) did…

Words from Ele:

"The week began with the charts on windguru calling for an Easterly wind, which in Gran Canaria means only one thing - head North!

As the week went by, the forecast looked more and more promising, so the night before I knew it was on I alerted fellow GC rippers, Dario Ojeda (Tabou, Simmer, Dakine, MFC), Omar Sanchez (RRD), Jose Romero (JP, NeilPryde), and my friend Carlos. I couldn't sleep that night because I had so many emotions running through my body. I felt nervous and excited about the day ahead.

After a sleepless night, when the sun eventually rose that morning it was very windy in Las Palmas, so I didn't hesitate and jumped straight in the van to make the drive North.

I headed to the spot known as Bokine (Banaderos) and it looked perfect for my 4.4 Naish Boxer and 74L board. The waves were averaging out at mast high, and sometimes bigger in the sets. It was without doubt one of the best days windsurfing i've ever experienced in my life, and reminded me of my trip to Maui."
