Part 1: Graham Ezzy returns home to Ho’okipa after five months away to train for the Aloha Classic

Graham Ezzy (Quatro / Ezzy) returned to his home of Ho’okipa, Maui, following five months in Europe competing on the PWA Wave World Tour. Ezzy elected to withdraw from La Torche in order to cram in some last minute practise ahead of the final event of the year - the Starboard Severne Aloha Classic.

By the time Ezzy returned home, there was just two weeks to go before the start of the contest. However, as Ezzy knows the break at Ho’okipa just about as well as anyone, it didn’t take him long to get fully dialled with the conditions again - despite five months away. The American’s decision paid dividends in the end as he was rewarded with his best result to date on the PWA Wave World Tour, which saw him take home fifth place overall - only narrowly missing out against Marcilio ‘Brawzinho’ Browne (Goya Windsurfing / MFC) for a place in the top four.

Ezzy has just released a new video, which features him together with training partner - Kevin Pritchard (Starboard / Ezzy / MFC), who won the wave world championship in 2006 - preparing for the Aloha Classic. Here’s what Ezzy has to say about his latest video: “After a long summer in Europe without much windsurfing, I returned home to Maui to prepare for the upcoming Aloha Classic World Cup at Hookipa. My training for the contest focused on the fundamentals of waveriding: turns.”

"Back to Maui Part 1: Training," starts with a messy 360 captured on my first day back in the water, and as the edit progresses you can see my sailing improve as I get back into the Hookipa mindset. We shot this footage on 3 separate days during the 2 weeks before the contest. Part 2 will feature my windsurfing from the Aloha Classic.”
