Dunkerbeck-Eyewear Siam Park Tenerife PWA World Cup

Day 7: An incredible evening of radical tow-in at Siam Park

With the main event of the 2014 Dunkerbeck-Eyewear Siam Park Tenerife PWA World Cup being concluded two days early, yesterday saw a phenomenal conclusion to another brilliant event in Tenerife as the elite of the wave sailing world headed to Siam Park for the Dunkerbeck Eyewear tow-in exhibition.

On Friday afternoon the Dunkerbeck Eyewear Super Session was held - counting for 50% - with the top 8 sailors, plus 3 wildcards being given the chance to show their expertise in front of a packed out crowd. Ricardo Campello (Patrik / Point-7 / MFC) earned victory in the super session to become the first man to guarantee himself at Siam Park as well as Aleix Sanllehy (Goya Windsurfing / MFC), Adam Lewis (Fanatic / North), Alex Mussolini (Tabou / GA Sails), Leon Jamaer (JP / NeilPryde), Robby Swift (JP / NeilPryde / Mystic / Maui Ultra Fins), Boujmaa Guilloul (Starboard / Severne / Mystic / MFC), Jonas Ceballos, Antoine Martin (JP / NeilPryde), Alessio Stillrich (Fanatic / North) and last but not least, event organiser Dany Bruch (Starboard / Challenger / AL360).

The action which followed was nothing short of remarkable as the sailors delivered a jaw dropping display, much to the appreciation of the crowd. The evening featured painful looking crashes, near misses with the wall, but also some of the craziest rotations we’ve ever seen as the world’s best pushed the limits of the sport once more with the assistance of a jetski.

After an intense qualifying process for the final - consisting of 3 attempts each, with the top 2 different jumps to count - the initial field was eventually narrowed down to the top 3 who advanced into the final featuring Ricardo Campello, Robby Swift and Leon Jamaer.

Campello had looked in supreme form in qualifying and he continued his remarkable performance in the final to storm to an emphatic victory. The Brazilian effortlessly wowed the crowds and was visibly impressed with his own performance as he rotated through crazy paskos, shaka into pushloops and pushloops into shakas to keep Robby Swift and Leon Jamaer at bay, as the two teammates had to settle for second and third respectively.

Overall Results Dunkerbeck Eyewear Tow-in Exhibition Siam Park:

1st Ricardo Campello (Patrik / Point-7 / MFC)

2nd Robby Swift (JP / NeilPryde / Mystic / Maui Ultra Fins)

3rd Leon Jamaer (JP / NeilPryde)
