Jason Polakow (Neil Pryde/JP) and Karin Jaggi (Arrows/F2) clinched today’s competition in near perfect down the line wave riding, on the fifth day of the Ireland Wave 2001.

The sky was blue, the sun was warm and the waves were fantastic. Ideal conditions to start the event.

Dog walkers were happy, baby insects learning to fly were happy, stone

skimmers were happy, but the only people who were not so happy with the lack

of wind today were the sailors who have now waited seven days for any sign
