German freestyler Valentin Böckler goes in search of secret spots in Egypt

With political troubles in Egypt over recent years the windsurfing tourism took a bit of hit, however, slowly the numbers are starting to build again and German freestyler Valentin Böckler (Starboard / Gun Sails / Maui Ultra Fins) is one of those people who have recently returned.

The twenty-three year old travelled to Hurghada where he went in search of finding secret spots with nothing but him, the wind and the ocean. That’s exactly what he managed to find and he has now released a video which you can see here.

Valentin Böckler on his latest expedition:

“There are a number of secret spots to discover. Finally we stop in the middle of the desert with no population close by. There are unfinished hotel buildings and restaurants which are already starting to fall apart. We leave our car and walk the last 500 to 600 meters to the waters edge. The hot sand beneath us is covered with a crust of salt – was the water here once much higher? Ahead of us lies a lagoon, the wind is almost too much for 4.2 and behind the sandbar extends a seemingly endless great shallow area. We surf into the sunset and then make our way back to Hurghada.”
