Gollito: Down But Not Out

With rumour of Jose ‘Gollito’ Estredo’s recent injury spreading like wildfire, we thought we’d get to the bottom of it and find out the full story from the man himself.

Over to the 2008 Freestyle World Champion, Jose ‘ Gollito’ Estredo (Fanatic / North / MFC):

“It happened when i bailed a shaka while training in Jericoacoa, Brazil. I threw the equipment and landed on my shoulder in about six inches of water. When i crashed i knew i had broken a bone in my shoulder, i was in agony and couldn't even move for the next two hours.”

“I then had to be driven four and a half hours to the closest hospital in Forteleza. It was a bumpy dirt track, with the car flying around and bouncing up and down. This was the most painful journey of my life. At the hospital they put my whole back and shoulders in plaster to immobilize the injury. It turned out i had fractured the bone but luckily will not need an operation. I fly back home to Margarita today and hope that i will be able to sail again in about six weeks time.”

Fanatic brand Manager, Craig Gertenbach also added, “I chatted to Gollito on Skype; he’s been training really hard with Andre Paskowski (Fanatic / North) in Jeri. Everyone said he was totally on fire out there; apparently he invented three new moves in five days! Luckily the fracture is a hairline, so there’s no operation needed, and he’ll be back ripping soon.”

We wish the best of luck to Gollito on his recovery, and look forward to seeing some of his latest creations on the airwaves in the near future. Watch this space.

Thanks also to Craig Gertenbach for his input in the matter.
