Injury Update

Philip Köster ruled out for remainder of season after sustaining injury while training in Australia

News has just broken today that reigning world champion and current world No.2 in the 2016 rankings — Philip Köster (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins) — has unfortunately been ruled out of for the rest of the season.

The 20 year old had been preparing for the next stop of the PWA Wave World Tour, which starts on Monday 19th September in Cold Hawaii, Denmark, but sadly he suffered a torn cruciate ligament during his final training session.

The 3-time world champion had this to say: “I can’t believe this happened. My preparation in Australia has been perfect and I was in promising physical condition. Sadly, this happened during my final training session. Due to this injury, my season is terminated at an early stage. I’m glad to receive the best possible treatment by Professor Frosch and his team. Now I focus on returning as soon as possible.“

Köster will now undergo surgery tomorrow after returning home to Germany. Everyone from the PWA would like to wish Philip a speedy and successful recovery.
