Wanted – Press and Website Manager
The PWA’s taking positive steps forward to grow the tour and promote the sport with its elite-led campaign to show off just how radical, healthy and exciting the sport of windsurfing is.
With recent internal changes to the marketing and PR management structure, an exciting new opportunity’s arisen for a livewire newshound and press contact, armed with excellent web skills, and in-depth knowledge of the sport.
Candidates should possess outstanding written and spoken English language ability, equivalent to Mother-tongue standard, and be able to extract anything newsworthy and vital from PWA competition to include in daily syndicated news reports, other daily web news, and host live ticker updates throughout a full season’s schedule.
Applicants must have proven editorial and IT skills, preferably with experience of using a Content Management System, photo manipulation and optimisation, and a can-do helpful attitude to help the media get the messages they require to tell the world about the PWA tour and it’s athletes.
Strong relationship-building skills are critical to this position both with the press, and between the PWA’s members, who rely heavily on pwaworldtour.com to promote their activity both in the contest arena, and outside of events.
Additionally, the role will require you to develop the usability and function of the website as a world-leading resource and portal to the windsurfing world, and ensure that it supports all media partners and corporate sponsors of the tour.
Contenders should have a demonstrable drive and track record of working independently in their own environment without supervision for the off-season, and be able to hot-desk and work under pressure at event sites and temporary facilities during competition.
Any media background from Events Marketing or PR scores points in the hiring process, as the role will involve providing support to the marketing manager in the output of vital promotional material directed at potential sponsors.
It goes without saying that the PWA team all pull together, and at times must be expected to help others or perform functions of their colleagues as and when required.
An understanding of windsurfing competition, at least to national level, knowledge of competition rules, and a sound awareness of the three main disciplines (Slalom, Wave and Freestyle), would be advantageous.
If you feel that you or someone you know may have the skills that we’re looking for, and are interested in working with the PWA, then please apply by email to email@example.com for further information.
