Surgery Setback For Alonso

Spanish Shredder Nayra Alonso Suffers A Setback On Her Road To Recovery From A Broken Foot…

29-yr old Gran Canarian talent Nayra Alonso (Fanatic / Severne) has encountered another unlucky obstacle in her pre-season preparations.

After enduring a frustrating period in plaster since breaking her foot in training in South Africa, 2008’s late-season form-player’s now learned she’s to undergo surgery to pin the un-mended bones together.

'Apparently, my bone hasn’t healed at all during the past 3 weeks, so I have to go under-the-knife.’ explained Nayra.

‘When they told me, I cried like a baby. But hey, at least now I’ll be sure it’s going to stick together.

Luckily there’s been no wind here in GC, which has helped keep me sort of calm.’

With the opening women’s wavesailing in Tenerife on the horizon, Alonso has to dig deep and trust her medical team to put on the quickest road to recovery possible.

It’s looking unlikely she’ll be fit enough for that crucial season-opener, but she should be well on-target for a first appearance at Guincho in June.

Here’s wishing Nayra a speedy revival.
