The PWA world tour will soon be returning to wind swept beaches Gran Canaria for one of the biggest events of the season. Commencing on the 9th of July all the big guns from both the men’s and women’s fleets will be gathering at the legendary venue…Pozo Izquierdo, ready to do battle. Wild winds are sure to be on the agenda and when it is blowing 35-40 knots you can be sure to expect nothing less than balls to the wall action from the best sailors on the planet.

Pozo hero Bjorn Dunkerbeck (Proof, Neil Pryde), who won the men’s wave discipline in Pozo last year will be there to defend his title. Dunkerbeck took his victory after narrowly defeating Norwegian jumping specialist Vidar Jensen (Drops, North) in what will be remembered as one of the all time dramatic PWA finals.

French windsurfing machine Antoine Albeau (AHD, Neil Pryde) will also be back in the Canaries ready to defend his Overall Freestyle Crown. The big man who hails from La Rochelle on the west cost of France took the title after winning in Pozo and then placing fifth in the Fuerteventura freestyle Grand Prix.

The infamous Moreno Twins (Mistral, North) who both live in Pozo are both likely to feature on the podium of the women’s competitions. They will face challenges from a tough fleet, which includes the likes of Karin Jaggi (F2, Arrows), Anne Marie Reichman (Naish Boards, Naish Sails) and Colette Guadagnino (JP, Neil Pryde).

Whatever happens you can be assured the action will be second to none and as the drama of the PWA world tour unfolds sailors will be fighting tooth and nail for both valuable ranking points and the 130,000 Euro prize fund up for grabs!
