Micah On The Mend

Promising news from the Buzianis camp suggests that the slalom star may be back on the water sooner rather than later.

The 2008 Fuerteventura PWA Grand Slam saw an unfortunate injury force event title contender, Micah Buzianis (JP, NeilPryde, MFC) call a premature end to his event campaign.

The crippling blow came on the penultimate day of competition, when Buzianis had a firm grip on second position and was pressuring event leader, Antoine Albeau (Starboard, NeilPryde) for first position. Forced to miss all the subsequent races, it’s a testament to Buzianis’ ability that he still secured 11th position overall for the event.

Following medical assessment, doctors found that Buzianis had broken his fibula, and had to have the bone reset while in Fuerteventura.

Now back in the USA thanks to help from compatriots Kevin Pritchard (Starboard, Gaastra, MFC, Dakine) and Greg Thomas (T1, Naish), the Buzianis camp report that the Fuerteventura medical team did an exceptional job re aligning the broken bone, and would like to express their thanks to the doctors involved.

If all goes well, Buzianis is expected to be out of the cast and walking without crutches in 6-8 weeks. We send Micah our commiserations, and hope to see him back on the water in the not so distant future.
