Pro Radar: Normen Günzlein

We catch up with a selection of the PWA’s riders while they’re preparing for the 2009 World Tour season. Kicking things off is German freestyler, Normen Günzlein.

PWA: Where are you right now?

NG: In Jeri, it’s really nice here!

PWA: When and where was the last time you went windsurfing?

NG: Before this I had a two month break as I had a bad injury and had to spend some time in hospital, so a while back.

PWA: How were conditions today, and who were you sailing with?

NG: Today I was sailing with Andre Paskowski, Antxon Otaegui, Ian Mouro, Andy Chambers, Colin Dixon and some of the locals. I sailed on my 4.5m and my 90 litre board.

PWA: What other PWA riders are you training with out there?

NG: The same ones I mentioned before. Unfortunately Gollito had to leave as he got injured yesterday.

PWA: Do you have any trips or missions planned for the winter?

NG: After this I will probably go to Cape Town and then maybe Bonaire. Lets see!

PWA: Where are you going to spend most time training for the 2009 season?

NG: Here in Jeri and then most probably in Bonaire, they’re pretty much perfect places to train for freestyle.

PWA: Do you have any specific goals while training in between PWA seasons?

NG: First of all I want to get really fit on the water again. After spending a long time
without sailing because of the injury that’s my first goal. After that I just want
to get more consistent in some of my moves. And of course I want to enjoy my life as a windsurfer traveling through the world!

PWA: Do you have any funny stories or dirt on other PWA sailors?

NG: Yeah, there are loads of stories, but if I tell you them I probably wouldn’t feel quite so safe at the next event!

Normen Günzlein is sponsored by JP boards and NeilPryde sails.
