The Kaino

Kai Lenny explains his new move.

PWA rookie of the year, Kai Lenny (Naish, Naish) has just released footage of a new move that he's been working on over in Hawaii, aptly named the Kaino.

After watching it a few times, we decided it would be far easier for Kai to explain what’s going on. Over to Kai:

I came up with this move after watching Robby Naish carve on the face of a wave and go back wind at lanes. Having seen Robby do that, I practiced it numerous times, and eventually thought the extra rotation just felt like it would be super natural to do. The move is similar to the Kono which is why I named it the Kaino, I just personalised it for doing it on a wave. If you want to have a go at it, you basically need to get some pop from the wave and go into a wave 360 rotation, then as you land you flip the sail. Whilst this is all happening the wave is pushing you towards the beach. It is a really fun move!”

Looks pretty technical to us, but definitely the best way to pick off the set of the day at your local break! Turning round has never looked so good!
