Broekhoven Joins Gaastra

2009 PWA freestyle rookie goes Gaastra for 2010.

As Steven Van Broekhoven (F2, Gaastra) carves his name into the PWA history books, one of the most well-known brands in windsurfing signs him up for the year ahead.

Broekhoven ended the '09 season ranked 5th in the world in freestyle, and will surely have his eye on the podium, if not the title for 2010. He's regarded as the one to watch by his peers, and he's been training hard all winter. Armed with his new sails, he could well be the man to knock Jose 'Gollito' Estredo (Fanatic, North) off the top.

Broekhoven commented:

"After 2 succesfull years on MauiSails, I decided to go for a change.

I'd like to continue my success with gaastra sails, and hope It will give me new energy to do the best I possibly can.

The 2010 Gaastra sails look awesome, the Echo is one of the best pure freestyle sails on the market. It's super light and has lots of power. The combination with the new F2 rodeo will be the most radical freestyle set up you can imagine.

I'm super happy to be in the same team as Kiri Thode (Starboard, Gaastra), Tonky Frans (F2, Gaastra) and Davy Scheffers (Tabou, Gaastra), a real dream team. We're all good friends and we'll push the freestyle level to the highest possible with new moves for 2010.

I'm now in South Africa training for waves and freestyle. You'll find reports and photos on my new look website www.stevenb72.com

I'm very glad I got the trust and support of Gaastra international, and they can count on me for the next season."

Good luck Steven. We're looking forward to your first heat!
