'Surfer Of The Year'

Old school meets new at the German Surf Magazine awards.

World Cup winning sailors, Bjorn Dunkerbeck (Starboard, Severne) and Philip Koster (Starboard, NeilPryde. Dakine) were awarded with the titles 'International Surfer of the Year' and 'National Surfer of the Year' respectively by German Surf Magazine over the weekend in Dusseldorf.

Bjorn Dunkerbeck is no stranger to the World Tour, having possibly won more windsurfing World Titles than anyone else on the planet, and therefore fully deserves such an award.

Dunkerbeck has won just about every PWA title possible during his career, from freestyle to waves, and slalom to speed. He can even lay claim to winning more than 100 single PWA World Cups! And best of all, he's still fighting hard on the slalom course today. 2010 could well be the year we see a return of the Dunkerbeck dominance of the nineties…

At the other end of the scale, we have youngster Philip Koster, who at just 15 years old, won his first PWA wave event last year in Pozo - an awesome achievement considering the number of highly skilled and highly experienced sailors there are on tour.

Koster was said to be one to watch out for in the future. However, it looks like the wave sailors of today will have to watch out for him now, having already proved he's more than capable of taking the scalp off the most professional sailors during a heat.

Well done guys, we look forward to seeing you on tour again this year.
