The Living Wing Trilogy

Chris Pressler investigates the concept behind Severne's new Reflex race sail.

Following a heavy period of R&D, Severne sails have released their latest slalom weapon which their top riders will be using this season to take on the PWA's hottest racers. The team went back to the drawing board and literally started from scratch in order to create something with the potential to win the tour.

With this in mind, Chris Pressler (Starboard, Severne, DaKine) interviewed sail designer Ben Severne, along with former PWA world champion, Bjorn Dunkerbeck (Starboard, Severne), and top racer, Steve Allen (Starboard, Severne). Check out the first part with Allen and Severne by following this link HERE.

Allen discusses the finer points of testing with Dunkerbeck, and how the two pair up despite their fairly large weight difference. Whilst Ben talks about the process of designing such a sail, how much the development cost, and his goals for the future.

Stay tuned for the second instalment which will be uploaded soon, and check out the new Reflex, all at www.severnesails.com
