Kauli's Career

In the final episode of Novela Das 8, UMI pictures take a look back at former wave world champion, Kauli Seadi's rise to the top of the PWA world tour.

When UMI decided to pull together footage to form a portrait of Kauli Seadi's (JP, NeilPryde, MFC) last four years of windsurfing in order to make Novela Das 8, there was no doubt that an entire section would be dedicated to his life on tour, and competing around the globe at the highest level.

Watch the insane action by clicking HERE. And remember, this is Kauli mid competition, not an edited version of him free sailing during his leisure time. It just goes to show the level that the wave sailors have to perform at during their short heats to make the grade and go through to the next round in PWA competition. And to gain World Champion status, you have to be at the same level, if not higher, than Seadi. If you think you've got what it takes, by all means sign up!

Kauli commented: "Over a two year period, we captured some of my best heats from the PWA World Tour, in sick locations such as Brazil, Cape Verde and of course the ever windy Pozo Izquierdo. There’s even some footage from the world cup in Scotland in 2007, a great place to sail, with real similar waves to where I live in Brazil. I liked it a lot, even though it was freezing! This year, most of the events are jumping biased in pretty onshore conditions, I would love to have events in Brazil, Cape Verde and Maui back on the tour again."

And, the final question to Kauli has to be whether he actually likes novela das 8 himself. Kauli: "I think it’s not a question of liking it, you just get addicted to it! You get curious to see what will happen in the next episode, as I hope you all were with Novela das 8."
