Sail Time

With the winter wave season just around the corner, it was only a matter of time before many of the world's leading sail brands launched into action with the release of their 2011 ranges.

The PWA Pozo Grand Prix marked the start of many colourful new sails hitting the water, with the pros getting their first taste of using next year's gear in competition off the beautiful Gran Canarian coast.

Following that debut, Simmer sails have sent word that their new wave weapons will be available to purchase soon. For a full teaser, follow this link HERE to watch top PWA riders, Klass Voget (Fanatic, Simmer, MFC), and Dario Ojeda (Tabou, Simmer, MFC, Dakine) putting the new rigs through their paces. Voget has been developing an all new 4 batten sail throughout the winter, so be sure to take a look at that. More info at simmerstyle.com

Another leading manufacturer to follow suit, is the brand MauiSails, as used by the 2010 PWA Podersdorf champion, Taty Frans (Starboard, MauiSails, Mystic). Barry Spanier and his team have put together a presentation of next year's sails which you can flick through HERE. Amongst the 2011 lines are the Legend, Ghost XT, Global, Loco, and Switch. And finally, following four times Pozo champion, Victor Fernandez's (Fanatic, North, MFC) victory at the recent world cup, North sails have launched their new wave and freestyle ranges for 2011. Take a look at what's on offer from them by clicking HERE. Fernandez's colourful code mad quiver certainly impressed the judges last week. And, we'll no doubt see three times freestyle world champion, Jose 'Gollito' Estredo (Fanatic, North) tricking his way onto the podium at the 25th anniversary Fuerteventura world cup next week on some shiny new sails too.
