Skyeboy's Sessions

Top professional wave sailor, John Skye shares his footage from an action-packed year!

Double cheese role dare-devil, John Skye (RRD, MFC) has started uploading his annual video series. Check out PART 1, and PART 2, and stay tuned to www.johnskye.com for more.

Talking about 2010, Skye commented:

"Its been a great year. During the winter I tried to spend a bit more time in Gran Canaria. There was less wind, but amazing surfing and SUPing. We also went on a trip to Maderia, and then on to Fuerte. I had 3 good weeks in Cape Town with Roberto Ricci from RRD. Then Maui was perfect in April, and I even managed to score Jaws for my first time ever. The UK contests were not as good as last year, but you can't expect two amazing years in a row, and we still had conditions to compete in Ireland.

One of the highlights of the year was definitely our wave camp in Morocco in May. We had some amazing conditions both weeks, with the wind patterns fitting our courses perfectly - a few warm up days before it kicked in full power towards the end. Everyone was so stoked, it was fantastic. Plus there was so much wind, and so many hours of sailing that myself and Nayra Alonso (Fanatic, Severne) still had plenty of time to get some sailing in for ourselves.

After that it was back to Gran Canaria for the Pozo comp and a summer of non-stop wind. You can literally sail everyday from July to August, so its perfect for port tack training. Since then its been non stop for me. I went to the UK's National Windsurfing Festival, then straight to Klitmoller for the Kia Cold Hawaii, then immediately drove to Sylt. After ten long days in Germany, I had one day at home before going to Tiree, and then one day at home before arriving in Maui.

I've been extremely busy, but i'm happy to be in Maui right now and i'm dying to get some sailing in. I received all my new quads just before the competitions started but haven't really had much time to really get to know the boards, so this trip is mainly about getting them all set up perfectly for Cabo Verde. The conditions here in Maui are pretty close to the conditions we will hopefully get in CV, so its about the best training you can get. Plus, its always good to get some photos done out here too.

See you on the water soon!"
