Minds Wide Open

From the depths of PWA legend and film director Andre Paskowski's editing room comes the trailer for the next greatest windsurfing movie on the planet.

Following the mind-blowing Four Dimensions, Andre Paskowski (Fanatic / North) and his inspiring team, have joined forces once again to create there second major movie project - Minds Wide Open.

Featuring the hottest windsurfers in the world, Jose ‘Gollito’ Estredo (Fanatic / North), Victor Fernandez (Fanatic / North / MFC), Marcilio Browne (Fanatic / North / MFC), Ricardo Campello (JP / NeilPryde / MFC), Kauli Seadi (JP / NeilPryde) and Philip Koster (Starboard / NeilPryde / Dakine / Maui Ultra Fins) at the finest spots on the globe, the action promises to be out of this world.

Filmed and edited by the hugely talented Sebastian Dörr, the team have searched high and low for the most astounding angles to capture the lifestyle and action as the world’s greatest windsurfers travel the world on the hunt for that perfect session. The trailer features stunning scenery, obscene windsurfing and certainly leaves you wanting more.

We caught up with Paskowski to find out more details:

PWA: After the amazing success of Four Dimensions, what was your inspiration for this movie?

Paskowski: “Well what could be more inspirational than having success from what you doing? Four Dimensions was great. A lot of stress but seeing everything grow step by step and then watching it all in Sylt were it all came together, I really like thinking about it. I mean we were three guys and we did all that on the side so it was great. I was sitting down after with Peter and we planned something new. Then everything with my health happened but I felt I needed to do a movie otherwise I would have nothing to think about.”

PWA: What can we expect from Minds Wide Open?

Paskowski: “We really focused on giving each spot a variety on angles. The focus is still on the action but we have tried to create a beautiful looking overall image. We have amazing riders so the action is outstanding. We have scored some spots with amazing conditions. We also invested in some new equipment which enabled us to create different looking images. Especially the Super Steady Helicopter Footage, Steady Sliding Images and some other cool stuff.”

PWA: How many locations have you filmed on, which has been the favourite amongst the riders?

Paskowski: “We filmed on six locations and we are on the way to film the seventh and last location at the end of this week. This will be my first time travelling with Gollito in a while and I am really looking forward to it.”

PWA: What is the hardest / most exciting aspect of creating a movie?

Paskowski: “The hardest part this time was my health situation. It took my all energy and I was in a totally different mind state – no wonder as I was given the strongest drugs on the planet for nine weeks. But the movie was there, the travels were booked so I had to keep up at least some working spirit which was not easy. I think this influenced all of us a little because we had to adopt every plan a bit. But if we can pull a movie off when the producer is fighting to stay alive, I think it is a double reward.

The nicest thing is to sit in the Sylt cinema – watching a sequence that we worked on for three days straight and you’re not sure if people realise, like or notice and then getting applause during the movie, that’s a really emotional feeling.”

PWA: When is the release date for the movie and where can we get our hands on one?

Paskowski: “Well due to my health I was unable to film myself and our editor Sebastian Dörr had to film at every location, so we lost lots of time. I hope that the movie is ready by Sylt. If not we will have a sneak preview in Sylt and the main movie will follow in October.”
