Starboards epic year

The duo have won six out of ten competitions this season, proving that Starboard’s iSonic is one of the fastest around the race course.

Whilst Daida Ruano Moreno (Starboard / Severne) kept control of her number one spot in the women’s wave competitions to bag another world title on the Starboard Quad and Evo.

Tiesda You, Board Designer Starboard:

“This is the first year the PWA has moved from a single Constructor’s champion to three: one for waves, one for freestyle and one for slalom. To win one of these titles, a constructor must do well in both men’s and women’s categories. This is a big challenge for any manufacturer and as we planned the season, we hoped to do well in one or two categories. We didn’t dare to dream of winning all three but the team did it – by winning eight of the nine available PWA champions titles! It truly is incredible.”

Sacha Albarda, Marketing Manager Starboard:

“This is truly a dream result for us. All of our riders are dedicated- and incredibly hard-working athletes, so seeing their performance and the efforts of the R&D teams slowly converge on the 2011 rankings was just awesome. Alice, Ben, Bjorn, Cyril, Daida, Dany, Iballa, Kiri, Philip, Sarah and Taty pushed so hard this year, and they certainly got the results. 2011 has been a wild ride and we’re so stoked.”
