HARDCORE WINTER WINDSURFING

Mathias Genkel braves the cold all in the name of windsurfing

In spite of the cold conditions on offer Mathias Genkel (Patrik / Sailloft Hamburg) couldn’t resist hitting the water over the European winter to gain his windsurfing fix.

The movie is shot in Germany and Denmark, and the chilly weather doesn’t appear to affect the German at all as he throws together an explosive routine consisting of; super-fast burners and culos, radical konos and nice forward loops. Furthermore Genkel looks as equally adept in the waves as he does on flat water, proving he is the complete sailor.

Mathias: “The footage for this video was filmed during five sessions I had between January and March 2012. With temperatures close to zero degrees, filming gets a lot harder. Windsurfing in winter is a unique experience. A grey and chilly morning can turn into a perfect day on the water. Whilst most people sit in front of their TV’s, you are out there braving the cold. Even after a short session you can’t help but smile…”
