AUTUMN WINDS

Fantastic slalom, wave and surfing action with Italy’s Matteo Iachino

Matteo Iachino (F2 / Challenger Sails / AL360) made his PWA debut in 2009, now at the tender age of twenty-three Iachino remains one of the youngest competitors on the PWA Slalom World Tour. The Italian finished the 2012 season in 23rd place, whilst also managing to capture the IFCA European Championship. Iachino showed glimpses of his potential throughout the season, and his best result of the year came at the final event in Sylt where he was able to claim a fantastic eleventh place, which makes him one to keep an eye out for in the future.

Iachino’s latest video shows life on the West Coast of Europe during autumn as he trains for the start of the 2013 PWA season, which kicks off in Korea on the 4th May. The Italian is well known for his slalom ability, but this offering also shows that he excels in the waves, both with and without a sail. Iachino launches into big forward loops and attempts numerous backies as well as attacking the waves with several fluid rides. On his familiar slalom gear Iachino cranks through fully planing gybes and even tries some freestyle too.
