TONKY IN TARIFA

Monster moves from the one and only Tonky Frans in Tarifa

Tonky Frans (Tabou / Gaastra) has been competing at the very top of the freestyle world for many years. Consistently in the overall top five, almost every year, Tonky’s best finish to date came in 2009 when he claimed the final place on the prestigious podium.

Frans, who is now 31, shows no sign of letting up of his grip on the top of the sport and many still believe he has all the assets to, one day, become PWA Freestyle World Champion. It’s purely a case of performing extremely consistently and reducing a few mistakes here and there. Could 2014 prove to be Tonky’s year?

Tonky’s latest video comes from Tarifa, which is statistically one of the windiest spots in Europe. It’s combination of glassy flat water, chop and waves make Tarifa the perfect training ground, whilst also being more financially viable than many other destinations.

As ever Tonky’s style is undeniable as he rotates through explosive moves such as huge regular konos, beautiful combinations such as flaka into ponches, and some absolutely massive stalled forwards and backloops.
