THE QUEEN OF FREESTYLE

What's up Sarah-Quita Offringa?

With the start of the 2014 PWA Freestyle World Tour just two days away anticipation is reaching fever pitch. One of the stars of the show will undoubtedly be Sarah-Quita Offringa (Starboard / Mystic / Chris Benz / Maui Ultra Fins), who is currently unbeaten for the past six seasons and is the true Queen of Freestyle. Offringa has just finished her studies and will be looking to make the perfect start to her title defence when it begins in Bonaire. Just before the event we caught up with Offringa to see how her winter went and how she is feeling ahead of the first event of the season.

Over to Sarah-Quita:

"This past winter I was rounding up my bachelor's so I had some more time off than the past few years.

This time I had the opportunity to travel to Brazil for 2 weeks in November to train freestyle.

And then I flew over to the amazing Cape Town to improve my wavesailing. (of course I had my freestyle kit with me as well)

I also attended the St. Barths fun cup in February. But after that I had to spend 10 more weeks in Holland to finish off my last course.

Anyway I've officially earned my bachelor's degree now and I've been sailing back in Aruba for the past 7 weeks.

I feel like I've improved in this short time.. Not necessarily newer moves but I've become way more consistent with some of the power moves.

Feels great to have been sailing back home for this long and also make some progress again!

I'm very much looking forward to this event in Bonaire. I feel more confident because I have had some more time on the water again. I'm nervous like always but actually just happy and excited to be on the water again with the best freestylers in the world."

Thanks Sarah-Quita, we can't wait to see you competing again in two days time and good luck.
