Mission For Air

Maciek Rutkowski's quest to fly

Maciek Rutkowski (Patrik / Point-7) spent the majority of the winter training in El Medano, Tenerife, with many of the world’s top slalom sailors. The Pole was crowned the PWA Youth Slalom World Champion and is still regarded as one of the most promising young talents on the tour. However, it is not only on the race course that Rutkowski is a threat as he also qualified from the trials in Tenerife, Cold Hawaii, La Torche and Sylt.

The twenty-three year old has just released a new movie, focusing on his life in Tenerife throughout the winter, which sees a combination of lifestyle and sailing - wave and slalom. Although Rutkowski is quite harsh on his personal opinion of his performance in the waves - when it comes to jumping at least.

Here’s what Rutkowski has to see about his latest video:

“It was a long winter in Tenerife... Very emotional for obvious reasons… But after the first wave of sadness, anger and unanswerable questions went away after a few very long days of thinking I asked myself: “What would he do?” And I think the answer is that he would take away everything possible to take away from a situation like this and than keep doing his thing even harder than he usually was if thats even possible. So that’s what I did. I trained, windsurfed, tried to jump, hit the lip went on the rocks, played basketball, mixed music, edited footage.. But I never forgot about Alberto and I don’t think I ever will... This one’s for him. And in my eyes it’s a pretty good one - hope you guys enjoy it too!”
