The PWA Hawaii Pro – Presented By Severne Sails 2 p.m. Report

The day continues with perfect conditions at Hookipa Beach Park. It is a beautiful sunny day with the first round completed in logo high waves and 20-knot trade winds.

Following a day of intense action on the water in the trials, the stage is now set for a battle of epic proportions featuring the worlds best wave sailors.

There were a couple of big surprises for the PWA sailors. Mariano Estivill (Arrows) beat Nik Baker (North, Mistral), when he pulled off a stunning double forward loop. Then 19-year-old Jesse Brown beat the experienced trials winner Sean Ordonez.

Although absent from the PWA scene for a while, Rush Randle (Neil Pryde, Starboard), made the most of the conditions and executed a spectacular 360 back into the wave.

Meanwhile, young guns Riley Coon (Starboard) and Nick Warmuth (Starboard, Gaastra) advance through their heats as did 14-year-old Graham Ezzy.

This is the first day of competition featuring the sports biggest names. Regular PWA veterans, Josh Angulo, Jason Polakow (Neil Pryde, JP) and brothers Kevin Pritchard (Gaastra, Starboard) and Matt Pritchard (Gaastra) were all in their usual top form delighting the throng of enthusiastic spectators. Everything is running smoothly, not even any complaints from the judges!

A big PWA thank you goes to Rodney Kilborn of Handsome Bugga Productions, who organized the on site set up.
