Croatia Set For Action As PWA Freestyle Tour Prepares To Kick Off

Since 1999, Zoo Station located on the beaches of Bol, on the island of Brac, has played host to Croatia’s premier Freestyle windsurfing contest. Over the last few years, the event has grown in size and importance until in 2001, the event first opened it’s fleet up to international competitors and now in 2004, with the support of HT Mobile the event takes it’s place on the PWA World Tour as the first Freestyle Qualifier of the year.

The HT Mobile Soul & Style encompasses Freestyle both on and off the water, concentrating on radical action on the water during the day and even more radical action in the all night parties!!

On the South coast of Brac which lies just 12 kilometers South-Southeast of Split, in the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic Sea, is the town of Bol. Bol benefits not only from incredible scenery and fantastic beaches, but also superb nightlife and more importantly regular thermal winds providing excellent windsurfing conditions.

As part of the PWA Tour the HT Mobile Soul & Style will see some of the hottest new talent in Freestyle windsurfing giving their all in what is the first real chance to show what they can do this year. Included in the line up are Tonky Frans (AHD, Gaastra), from Bonaire (ranked fourth in the PWA 2003 Freestyle rankings). Douglas “Cheo” Diaz (Fanatic, North) from Venezuela, (ranked seventh in the PWA 2003 Freestyle rankings) an Remko de Weerd (Fanatic, Gaastra) from Holland (ranked eighth in the PWA 2003 Freestyle rankings).

Alongside the relative veterans of the PWA tour, there is a strong European contingent hoping to steal glory, including many Croatian sailors who will have their first chance to put Croatia on the windsurfing map.

Stay tuned to www.pwaworldtour.com for all the latest reports as the action begins in earnest tomorrow.
