Slalom Pro Training

A new training base is born in Lanzarote

With a new season on the horizon the world’s best sailors are returning to full training mode as they prepare to battle it out again in 2017. For several of the top slalom sailors they’ll be heading to Lanzarote for an intense training program as they look to hit the ground running when the green flag is raised. To tell us more about what’s about to go down in Lanza here’s Kurosh Kiani (Starboard / Point-7 / Maui Ultra Fins) with an update:

“I am reaching out to you with a message of all the action which will be taking place next month, which you perhaps were not aware of. I have teamed up with the local community and Point-7 to set up a professional level slalom training camp in the month of February on the island of Lanzarote, and I wanted share it with you with the hope that you find interesting enough to share also.

As another action-packed world cup season is moving closer, all the pro guys are looking to warmer climates to fulfil their goals of spending their days on the water to improve their game on the water. And now a new opportunity has opened itself starting from February 5 and going till March 4 with an entry list which already contains top riders from across the world.

What started as a project between friends, has now evolved into a professional level training camp including some of the best guys in the world on the water and as crew!  With a world class race director/coach Mark Hosegood, and physical strength coach Guiseppe Pugliese who is behind several top level riders, the aim of this training camp, is to provide a base for racers from all over the world to improve their skills on the water technically, tactically and to develop the stamina it takes to perform at a high level!

One of the reasons of the growth of this event, is the huge support from the local community of Lanzarote, and from the windsurfing industry. We are pleased and proud to announce that Calero Marinas will be supporting us for our Pro Slalom Training in the month of February. Calero Marinas have done much to bring international yacht racing teams to Lanzarote due to the excellent sailing conditions offered here and so the support of a brand like theirs is a quality approval for us. Calero Marinas has developed and manages three marinas in the Canary Islands, having accrued over 35 years' experience in the sector. You can check them out at www.caleromarinas.com

Our accommodation provider “Aloha Spirit Surf House” is ready to greet all the sailors coming from near and far creating the perfect setting for anyone coming to the island to give themselves fully on the water, while having the obligatory “chill time” in the evenings. With a luxury vibe and surfer friendly guesthouse set-up, this will be our base off the water.

Furthermore, the training event will also be sponsored by Maui Ultra Fins, which means, that the event also will serve as a test centre for the newest developed Slalom-Pro-Carbon and Slalom-Race-Carbon fins.

We will be sailing out from Las Cucharas, Costa Teguise with our center being at Las Cucharas Windsurf Club, but we have the infrastructure to move location if we wish so.

In the online universe, we have set up base at https://www.facebook.com/slalomprotraining/ where we will keep the world entertained with our daily action and the progress of our training, along with updates for the media. Here you are also able to find early photos of the expected conditions at Costa Teguise. This is also where we can be reached for anyone wishing to take part of our training. Alternatively we can be contacted at blackprotraining@point-7.com

Feel free to click by our FB page and follow us in this new adventure, and we hope to see lots of action on the waters of Lanzarote in February and March!

See you on the water!
