Transfer Season

Pascal Toselli joins Loftsails for 2017

The latest transfer of the close season sees top PWA racer Pascal Toselli (99NoveNove / Loftsails) leaving Challenger Sails to join forces with Loftsails.

Pascal Toselli on joining LoftSails: “It’s an honor to join Monty’s team, I’m really happy and look forward to working together, and I am super excited to race with the racing blade.”

Debuting on the PWA World Tour in 2004, Pascal is an accomplished slalom competitor whose expertise brings a welcomed additional perspective into the Loftsails R&D program.  Monty Spindler, world-renowned sail designer and head of Loftsails, looks forward to continue pushing the boundaries of slalom performance with Pascal’s input on the team.

Monty Spindler reacts to capturing the Signature of Pascal Toselli. “So stoked Pascal is with Loftsails!  Pascal is a contender for top PWA results, and I look forward to the 2017 racing season and Pascal’s performance with his 2017 Racing Blades.”

After 10 years on tour, Pascal rocketed up the rankings more than 10 places and had his best result in 2014, finishing 5th overall on the PWA World Tour.  In 2014 Pascal took 3rd place at Alacati and Sotavento, winning 4 elimination rounds.  In 2015 Pascal finished 5th in Ulsan, and in 2016 5th in Costa Brava.  Pascal has learned through his career invaluable experience which he plans on utilizing for the 2017 season.

“I do not want to put pressure on myself for 2017.  I know that it is possible for me to record good results, like entering the top 5.  Now I am super motivated and have trained thoroughly to arrive ready for the beginning of the season.”

Pascal’s determination and enthusiasm to perform well on tour is equally matched by his commitment to be involved in the Loftsails’ development process alongside Monty.

“Ultra performance with impressive accessibility is what excites me about the 2017 Racing Blades.  Hyper suitable for slalom but also for open sailing or long distance racing too.  I am super excited to start the season with the Racing Blades.  I think the sails are very successful this year!  It works in all conditions and personally I am really looking forward to starting the season and working more with Monty”

This success of the Racing Blade slalom line is no accident.  Years of development by Spindler in one of the premiere windsurfing destinations in the world are key factors that Pascal is relying on to push himself further up the rankings to the top spots for 2017.

“Tarifa is really the ideal place for development, the spot is known for its strong wind but it is a place where the conditions are varied, it is possible to find a lot of different sea conditions but also all wind strengths by only driving a few miles.  The wind frequency is also impressive.  It is possible to sail all year round without being too cold.  Tarifa is also a very pleasant place to live and Monty has everything you need to make the perfect development program!”

Equipped with his new racing machines, Pascal looks forward to the start of the 2017 season.  The Frenchman favors strong wind, but his training has made him a weapon in all conditions.

“I prefer strong wind.  I come from a place in the south of France ‘Le Jai’ where the Mistral blows strong.  For me, slalom is most exciting and fun in the chop and strong wind.  Fuerteventura is the event I look forward to the most.  For me it is the most representative event in slalom, for the number of races and also the conditions that are most extreme!  But I have trained and learned to love the sensation of racing in light wind too and look forward to the whole tour for 2017.”

When he’s not training to be the fastest around the course, Pascal enjoys getting out in the waves for some wavesailing sessions, and has recently been getting more into foiling, enjoying the fun of new sensations.  If all goes well and he gets the time to take a break, you might be seeing Pascal in Maui, as it’s a destination he’s always wanted to check out.
