Preseason Favourites

Who is your preseason favourite for the Men’s and Women’s Slalom World Title in 2017? Vote now...

The start of the new is now just a few weeks away when the world’s fastest men and women will return to the racing course for more adrenaline fuelled action.

The tour will start with an Asian leg this year - firstly with the Ulsan PWA World Cup, which runs between the 3rd-8th May - before returning to Japan for the first time in over 20 years with the Fly! ANA PWA World Cup, which will be held in Yokosuka between the 11th-16th May,

So, before the first green flag of the season we thought we’d ask you who your preseason favourite is for the Men’s and Women’s PWA Slalom World Championship…

Women’s

Sarah-Quita Offringa (Starboard / NeilPryde / Maui Ultra Fins) has won the women’s slalom for the last two years - meaning the Aruban gem has now collected 3 slalom world crowns - can you see current vice-world champion - Lena Erdil (Starboard / Point-7 / AL360) or former two-time world champion Delphine Cousin Questel (Starboard / S2Maui) being able to stop Offringa this time around? Or for that matter anyone else?

Men’s

Matteo Iachino (Starboard / Point-7) was able to rewrite the wrongs of 2016 where he suffered a final event capitulation to deservedly earn himself a first, of possibly many, slalom world crowns by winning 3 out of 5 events. The Italian must be strongly fancied again, but he’ll face stiff competition.

Pierre Mortefon (Fanatic / NorthSails) has been knocking on the door for a few years now, so do you think 2017 could be the year when the Frenchman goes one step better and secures his place at the top of the podium?

Will 23-time world champion - Antoine Albeau (RRD / NeilPryde) - bounce back? Or do you think the likes of Ross Williams or Julien Quentel (Patrik / Avanti), who finished 3rd and 4th overall last year, could claw their way to the top? Or maybe you fancy someone else entirely?
