Tension mounts for the kickoff of the 2006 PWA World Tour at the London Boat Show in Association with The Daily Mail, taking place from the 12th till the 15th of January. Final entries are in, promising a dazzling spectacle for the thousands of fans gathering around the pool to watch their heroes in action.

The line up for the main event hosts an impressive pack of top riders. In the jumping competition the action is bound to go off the scale as 2005 jump winner Josh Angulo (US-11) will charge the ramp head on in the company of Ricardo Campello (V-111, JP/ Neil Pryde), Kauli Seadi (BRA-253, Quatro/ Naish), Nik Baker (K-66, Mistral/ North Sails), Alex Mussolini (E-30, JP/ Neil Pryde), John Skye (K-57, F2), Diony Guadagnino (V-69, Neil Pryde) and Yannick Anton (F-8).

In the freestyle discipline, 2005 London Boat Show winner Nicolas Akgazciyan (F-400, Neil Pryde) faces Ricardo Campello (V-111, JP/ Neil Pryde), Ben Proffitt (K-800, Fanatic), Jose Estredo (V-1, Fanatic/ North Sails), Douglas Diaz (V-34, Fanatic/ North), Thomas Traversa (F-3, Tabou/ Gaastra), Antxon Otaegui (E-169, JP/ Neil Pryde) and Kauli Seadi (BRA-253, Quatro/ Naish); each and everyone of them having their sights firmly set on the 2006 London indoor title.

It’s not all jumps and tricks in London, as the tactical slalom discipline is on the menu as well. Last year, it was Ricardo Campello (V-111, JP/ Neil Pryde) who surprised the world by winning the London slalom title. This year the three times freestyle world champion is up against Nik Baker (K-66, Mistral/ North Sails), Ben Proffitt (K-800, Fanatic), Josh Angulo (US-11), Jimmy Diaz (ISV-11, North Sails), Antoine Albeau (F-192, Neil Pryde), Cyril Moussilmani (F-71, Fanatic) and Slalom 42 world champion Micah Buzianis (USA-34, F2/ North Sails).

In the women’s competition, the already signed up Moreno Twins (Mistral/ North Sails) will be joined by Nayra Alonso (E-4, Fanatic/ Severne) and 2005 PWA Rookie of the Year Junko Nagoshi (J-11, F2) to battle it out in all three disciplines.

The PWA indoor extravaganza kicks off on Thursday the 12th of January. Stay tuned to www.pwaworldtour.com for more news on this and other 2006 PWA events.
