Gran Canaria based double –loop legend Vidar Jensen loves to make trips that allow him to explore his Nordic roots. These quests provide stark contrast to the warm water and trade winds of his adopted home in the Canary Islands. Armed with some top quality technical apparel, his latest adventure was to the chilly waters of Iceland to hunt for waves amongst the icebergs and volcanic landscapes of the arctic north. Currently 6th in the PWA wave rankings, Vidar gives us a sneak preview of what he found.
‘I’m sitting back in Norway now getting ready for the Sylt event, and finishing writing all about my recent unforgettable trip way up north to Iceland, just under the Artic circle.
I was really amazed by the beauty, wilderness and all the natural phenomena this Island has to offer, plus of course what I really came for - wind and waves!
I sailed 4 out of 6 days and came home armed with memories and motivation to go back and explore more of this islands incredible wavesailing potential...
Here a few pictures and probably the first wavesailing shots out of Iceland ever!
Look out for full story and more pictures coming to a magazine in your country soon.
