Exciting New Job for Karin

Multiple World Champion Karin Jaggi knows more than most what it takes to meet targets and succeed in life. With a pro career that’s been winning world titles for more than 10 years Karin was recently chosen by her long-time sponsor F2 to lead their impressive PWA World Cup squad – all during a year where she’s already collected one world title on the Slalom course!

Karin is no slouch either as she’s also busy as a board member of the PWA itself and heavily involved in marketing the women’s sport and the sport as a whole as a sailor representative. Here Karin tells us a little about what the new gig entails as F2 go through some exciting new changes under their new ownership.

‘Well within the team we’ve actually been speaking about the possibility of a new manager for some time now. I had already been involved in building up the line-up and already helped with organising various things for a while (like the photo shoots). When Alex Hasch – as F2 Windsurf Line Manager – left on very short notice it kind of was a natural thing I would step in. For me it’s a great chance, as it doesn’t interfere with my travelling at all.

I’ll simply be responsible for the team and for all their needs. From keeping tracks of the team riders themselves, contacts to magazines, support at events, checking bills, taking orders, sending equipment around the place etc. Naturally I can rely on a great office team in the background. Everything that concerns the team will run over me. The most important decisions – what the team should represent, budgets and special ideas are made by a management group consisting exciting of the owner, the brand manager, shaper and line manager.

At first I thought “This is gonna be easy”, even alongside my current job as a competitor, and the travel commitments that involves. Now I see that it’s actually a lot of work and not just talk – not until everything is set up properly and functioning as an established system yet. But I am pretty sure I am “up to the job”.

Since I finished my studies two years ago I was looking for new challenges in my life, and so I thought this was a very positive opportunity to take. And, as I’m not quite yet ready to quit competing...this is really the ideal job. Even though I do a lot of contests I actually have a lot of free time in between events to focus on this kind of role’

Thanks Karin and Good Luck!
