Marcilio Browne Commits
Brawzinho Pens Deal ‘til 2010
An inspired pre-season signing of 18-yr old Brazilian Marcilio ‘Brawzinho’ Browne (Mistral / Gaastra) paid-off big time for Mistral when the youngster brought home the 2007 Freestyle World title in a dramatic finish at Sylt.
His remarkable victory in Fuerteventura allowed him to pressure 2006 teen champ ‘Gollito’ Estredo (Fanatic / North) after the Venezuelan looked to be unstoppable after a comprehensive win in Lanzarote.
But after just 9 months on his trial signing, Mistral Boss Donald Scholz and team mentor Nik Baker, who’d spotted the potential in Fortaleza’s most radical rider, have extended a deal that stretches into 2010.
Scholz stated that he was ‘Very proud of his talent and charisma…which suits the brand image perfectly. His results were a bonus too…we expected a great performance but would never have demanded a world title so soon…also, with Nik’s guidance and insight we’re already benefiting from his exceptional maturity in terms of his development input and understanding of the products R&D phases and our customers performance requirements. We’re super happy that Marcilio is feeling comfortable with us. He fits perfectly into our strategic concepts and is the biggest asset in our team for concentrating fully on the 2009 Board Range with Nik Baker. Moreover we’ve also started an exceptional project for next season...the first step being the production of a Million Dollar DVD project with Marcilio which is covering the most decent windsurfing spots around the globe! The movie is inspired by concepts such as the Burton Snowboards Movie “The Progress” and Billabong’s “Fair Bites” with Taj Burrow. So watch out!’
