Kona Buzz

Christmas comes early as December opens with big surf worldwide, starting out at epic Kona wind Lanes on Maui

The excellent Hawaiin winter season continued with a powerful north swell and Kona winds to treat all the locals and pros in town to Lanes at its best.

PWA big guns Nik Baker (Mistral / North), Jason Polakow (JP / Neilpryde), Victor Fernandez (Fanatic / Simmer), Robby Swift (JP / NeilPryde), Ross Williams (Tabou / Gaastra), Kevin Pritchard (Starboard / MauiSails), Levi Siver (Starboard / NeilPryde), Keith Teboul (Quatro / Simmer), John Skye (F2 / Naish), Camille Juban (Quatro) and more were joined by Robby Naish for a classic down-the-line session of pure Pacific joy.

Meanwhile windsurfers on the western coasts of Europe were braving the winter temperatures as swells of up to 45 feet hit the reefs and beachbreaks of France, Ireland, Portugal Spain and the UK.

With conditions like this in the off-season the skill level is sure to shoot through the roof again for the 2008 season!

You can catch some clips of the action at mauiwindsurfing.net plus a great gallery of still images.
