How i became a windsurfpro...
I was born in 1979, right between my two brothers in the small town Aurich, close to the north sea. My parents own a little wooden house at a lake (pic 2), so i had contact with water since i was a baby (pic 3). The lake is located close to our hometown, so we could reach it by bike easily and it was just a question of time, until we tried the old board of our parents (pic 4). The 'virus windsurfing' infected me. I put all my money together and bought my first small board, a Fanatic Mosquito. Finished school with the abitur in 1998 and moved to the island Norderney for a year of civil service. That was my entry to wavesailing.
I started competing and got my first sponsors. Boards by Fanatic, sails by ART, later Arrows (pic 5), clothing from Chiemsee (pic 6). Since that year on Norderney i was ranked top 3 in the discipline Wave-Freestyle in germany. In 2000 i moved to Kiel and started studying sport-science. In the same year i entered my first Worldcup of the professional worldtour PWA.
The last years i've been travelling to most the PWA-events all over the world (pic 7). For training in wintertime i mainly go to South Africa or Hawaii (pic 8), or travel around the globe to explore the unexplored coastlines for Wind and waves (pic 9). Since beginning 2006 i'm sponsored by Neilpryde.
