St. Peter-Ording is a unique venue. The event takes place in the middle of the „Wattenmeer“ national park. A huge village is set up directly on the giant Ording beach. If there is good weather ten thousands of visitors are expected to at the beach and will provide an impressive audience. The event offers not only high performance sport on the North Sea but also an attractive supporting program on land with stands of sponsors and partners in the village and various activities for the spectators. A huge food corner will offer various stands with street food and event catering. In the evenings that sector will transform into a party zone to host the infamous event parties where riders and visitors can dance and party together until deep in the nights. SPO will be a memorable experience!

The conditions in SPO are typical North Sea conditions. The rider need to anticipate everything: From flat water in light eastern offshore winds to high waves when there is strong western wind pushing the swell over the North Sea. Due to generally less deep water and several sand banks the shore break in SPO is much smaller and more forgiving compared to the typical Sylt close out waves. Due to the tides the equipment must be carried a distance from the village to the moving water line.

The riders can expect a rider lounge in the event village with water, fruits and snacks where the can relax in between the races. An equipment area is provided which is guarded during the night from 21:00 to 09:00. Even trailers may be parked in this area directly at the beach. St. Peter-Ording offers a huge variety of accommodation from top hotels over various apartments and holiday house to camping sites. But most riders will take advantage of the free rider camp where all athletes may park their cars an sleep in their vehicles or tents. Toilets, showers and electricity are also provided free of charge for all athletes.
