The First 4-Star Wave Windsurfing World Cup in Northern France
From 12 to 20 September 2026, the legendary wave spot of Wissant will host the Wissant Wave Classic, a 4-Star Wave World Tour event.
Located in the heart of the Grand Site des Deux Caps, between Cap Gris-Nez and Cap Blanc-Nez, and just 30 kilometres from the English coast, Wissant enjoys a truly exceptional geographical location. The prevailing side-shore winds, accelerated by the Venturi effect created between the two capes, quickly generate high-quality waves. These unique conditions have established Wissant as one of Europe's premier wave windsurfing destinations.
Competition
Over nine days, the world's best athletes will compete across four divisions:
- Professional Men's Division
- Professional Women's Division
- Junior Division (Under 18)
- Amateur Division
This will be the first international wave windsurfing 4-star World Cup ever held in Northern France and it will bring together many of the sport's biggest names alongside the most promising young talents in the windsurfing world.
In addition to earning valuable points towards the World Tour rankings, competitors will also battle for the titles of Men's and Women's French Wave Windsurfing Champions.

The Wissant Wave Classic is far more than just a competition—it's a true festival celebrating board sports and outdoor lifestyle, open to everyone.
Whenever wind conditions are not suitable for competition, visitors will enjoy a wide range of activities, including:
- Windsurfing introduction sessions
- Wingfoil discovery sessions
- Speed sail demonstrations
- Surf lessons
- Water sports activities for all ages
Riders will also have the opportunity to take part in group runs and cycling excursions through the spectacular landscapes of the Grand Site des Deux Caps, while making the most of the vast sandy beaches for beach volleyball and beach tennis.
