In a sizzling final, she succesfully fought off her sister Iballa Moreno (E-63, Mistral/ North). In the men’s freestyle department, Ricardo Campello (V-111, JP/ Neil Pryde) showed the world he’s the reigning freestyle champion for a reason by winning the single elimination of the men’s second freestyle round by beating Anthony Ruenes (F-85, Tabou/ Gaastra) in the final.<br><br> »
  • <B>Day 7 Summary: Action packed 7th day takes men and women riders well into the wave double elimination and double elimination of the second round of freestyle.</B><br> The men wavesailors were the first to get wet today, finishing up the last heat of the second round, the third and fourth round in winds that had ‘eased off’ from the usual 3.7 and below to a more sailable 4.2/ 4.7 weather. In the last wave heats of the day Victor Fernandez (E-42, Fanatic) knocked out Xavier Huart (F-33, Mistral/ North) with a massive double forward with room to spare for a third rotation. »
  • <B>Day 8 Summary: Sensational freestyle finals bring Gran Canarian glory to Ricardo Campello (V-111, JP/ Neil Pryde) and Daida Moreno (E-64, Mistral/ North). Kauli Seadi (BRA-253, Quatro/ Naish) takes his first wave title and Daida Moreno (E-64, Mistral/ North) wins the women’s wave crown.</B><br> On a spectacular closing day of the Gran Canaria PWA Grand Slam 2005, Ricardo Campello (V-111, JP/ Neil Pryde) and Daida Moreno (E-64, Mistral/ North) take the event’s freestyle title. In a close final, Campello successfully fought off Victor Fernandez (E-42, Fanatic). In the women’s division, Moreno marginally beat Karin Jaggi (Z-14, F2). »
  • <B>Day 5 Summary: Ricardo Campello (V-111, JP/ Neil Pryde) takes the freestyle double elimination in hurricane winds.</B> In one of the windiest freestyle contests to date, Ricardo Campello (V-111, JP/ Neil Pryde) ripped his way to first place in the double elimination in radical 3.0 winds. In the final of the double elimination Campello beat single elimination winner Kauli Seadi (BRA-253, Quatro/ Naish). »
  • The future of professional windsurfing has been substantially reinforced today with the signing of a new five year deal that guarantees PWA Grand Slam events in Gran Canaria, now, and until the end of the decade. »
  • After the colossal success of the Guincho World Cup in Portugal the PWA tour is now en route to Pozo, Gran Canaria for a €130,000 Wave and Freestyle Grand Slam in both men’s and women’s divisions. With registration set for June 28th and action commencing on the 29th through till July 6th, the event promises to be one of the most exciting legs of the 2005 tour »
  • Strong winds welcome the PWA to Pozo Izquierdo, Gran Canaria. <br><br> The Gran Canaria PWA Grand Slam 2005 has kicked off full force as the PWA fleet was warming up for competition in 3.7 - 4.2 conditions all day. Despite small waves, the action was first class with riders throwing big backloops, arched pushloops, stalled forwards and air chachoo’s. The in-move of the day was clearly the shaka, as many sailors were pulling them off both going out and coming in. <br><br> »

In the final Seadi managed to hold off Anthony Ruenes (F-85, Tabou/ Gaastra) in a very close heat. »
  • <B> Day 3 Summary: Men wavesailors get it on in heavy duty conditions.</B><br> The opening act on day 3 of the Gran Canaria PWA Grand Slam 2005 was the continuation of the men’s single wave elimination, round 1 in 4.0 winds with heat # 13 in which Peter Volwater (H-24, F2) set the standard for the day with a perfect double forward, advancing to the second round. Also progressing were Yann Sorlut (F-60), John Skye (K-57, F2) with a clean double forward of his own, Andy Wolff (G-9, Tabou/ Gaastra), Josh Angulo (US-11), Xavier Huart (F-33, Mistral/ North), Scott McKercher (KA-181, Starboard/ Severne) and Matt Pearch (K-16, F2). »
