Biography

1st PWA event entered 2015 AIRWAVES NOUMEA DREAM CUP NEW CALEDONIA PWA WORLD CUP

I started windsurfing in 2007, quickly becoming addicted to wave sailing and freestyle. In 2009 was encouraged to give the T293 class a try. It was a great experience giving me my first taste of competing and training. When I got too big for T293 I moved onto RS:X but became frustrated with racing in sub-planning conditions so I shifted my focus back to wave sailing, freestyle and formula.

In 2012 I entered a slalom event on my freestyle board and became hooked. I competed sporadically on borrowed gear between wave sailing trips for the next few years, including a break in 2014 where I travelled to America to do the mainland events in the American Windsurf Tour. After the 2015 Nationals in February I decided to invest in some quality gear and get serious about slalom, setting myself the goal of competing in the PWA event in Noumea.

Since deciding to focus my training exclusively towards slalom racing, I have set myself three key goals. The first is to compete on the PWA at the Noumea event. I want to use the opportunity to learn from the best in the world and gauge how I can modify my training and preparation to become competitive at the elite level.

My second goal is to win the New Zealand slalom nationals. Being national champion has been a dream of mine since I started racing slalom. The training leading up to Noumea and the experience I would gain puts in me in the best position possible to achieve this dream.

My long term goal is to compete regularly on the PWA tour.
