Cold Hawaii Youth Windsurf Wave & Slalom World Cup

Day 4: Anton Richter, Bobbi-Lynn De Jong, Peter Gobisch and Liam Calo claim respective victories after event titles decided at Middels Hanstholm

What a phenomenal day at Northern Europe’s premier windsurfing spot — Middels Hanstholm delivered once again. With near-perfect conditions and nail-bitingly close heats across the board, the big question was: who claimed those crucial World Championship points?

The day kicked off with a 12:00 skipper’s meeting. We thought we had plenty of time, but the conditions quickly turned inviting, prompting a fast start. Sunshine, strong westerly winds, and solid swell — which only grew as the day progressed — set the stage for an epic showdown.

U21 Girl’s

First up in the decisive round were the U21 Girl’s. Just like yesterday, they came flying out of the blocks with forward loops and solid wave rides. It was crunch time for the event, and once again, but having claimed two victories on Day 3, Bobbi-Lynn De Jong (Starboard / NeilPryde) couldn’t make it three from three as Helena Lale (Severne Windsurfing) claimed the final victory of the event in the U21 Girl’s to end on a high. With two wins yesterday, De Jong was in a very strong position and the 15-year-old deservedly walks away with the event victory ahead of Trine Gobisch (Duotone Windsurfing) and Lale, who completes the podium.

U21 Boy’s

The U21 Boy’s faced a pivotal heat with major World Championship points on the line. Starting from the back, Arthur Kahrs (JP / GA Sails) landed in fourth, finishing with the event’s best double forward attempt — but it wasn’t quite enough to overtake Hannes Gobisch (Duotone Windsurfing), who secured third overall. Then came the showdown between world No.2 and No.3 ahead of the Maui finals this October. A nerve-wracking heat — especially for the families watching from the beach — and it was the smallest point margin that made the biggest difference. Anton Richter (JP / NeilPryde / Maui Ultra Fins) pulled the longest straw and won the 2025 Cold Hawaii leg, along with the coveted points that place him perfectly for the Maui final. Congrats to Antoin — those were some epic waves and jumps! Valters Videnieks (Goya Windsurfing) didn’t look too disappointed either. The Latvian sailed well and can be proud of his performance. Still ranked No.3, he remains in strong contention for the final.

U18 Boy’s

The U18 Boy’s were fired up and went full throttle with outstanding performances. The competition was so tight that the top three had to sail an extra heat to determine the final rankings. Peter Gobisch (Duotone Windsurfing) showed confident style and filled his scoresheet with big airs and radical wave rides — shutting the door on the competition and claiming the 2025 Cold Hawaii Junior World Cup title in the U18s with authority. He was followed by Emil Skov Nielsen (Duotone Windsurfing) and Bjørn Olesen (Severne Windsurfing / Maui Ultra Fins).

U15 Boy’s

At these events, the action runs like clockwork thanks to the automatic flag system — with just 3 minutes between heats — and next up were the U15 Boy’s. Once again, it was incredible to witness 11-year-old Liam Calo (Severne Windsurfing) handle such challenging conditions. Liam sails daily at Lake Garda, though usually without waves. Second place went to another Gobisch — this time 12-year-old Anton Gobisch (Duotone Windsurfing). But it was Mika Henning (Duotone Windsurfing) who secured the overall second spot. Solid style from the youngest juniors.

Huge thanks to everyone for an amazing show and all the volunteer work — it’s together that we make things happen.

Day 5 is looking promising. We’re in for a busy one: starting with a fun session at Middels Hanstholm to shake out the legs after a few intense days. Then it’s registration at Surfklubben NASA at 15:00 for the slalom division, followed by the official prize ceremony for the Wave discipline.
Stay tuned — there’s still plenty of exciting action ahead!
