Cold Hawaii Youth Windsurf Wave & Slalom World Cup
Early starts have always been the recipe for success :-) and that was certainly the case on Day 7 with a skipper’s meeting scheduled for 09:00 in Kaben Parken, Thisted. The wind machine in Thisted Bredning was still running — no longer in turbo mode like the previous days, but still delivering a solid 16 knots from the southwest.
Foil Division Takes Flight
First on the water were the foilers. These riders can launch in as little as 10 knots and still reach speeds of 20-27 knots, so the action was intense from the very beginning. The fleet completed five full rounds — the daily allowed maximum — and every heat delivered high-speed drama.
U21 Foil Girl’s
Bobbi-Lynn de Jong (Starboard / NeilPryde) was in a league of her own, flying across the course and dominating the fleet. Kit De Jong (Starboard / NeilPryde) and Louise van der Meulen (Starboard / Severne Sails) battled closely behind, with Kit edging ahead thanks to aggressive starts and clean lines.
U21 Foil Boy’s
France’s Tom Nicolle delivered a tactical masterclass, reading the gusts with precision and holding off Matthijs Pos in every heat. Denmark’s Kasper Friis Nielsen showed solid form and claimed third place with consistent speed and positioning.
U17 Foil Boy’s
Denmark’s Gustav Permin dominated from the first start, showing deep local knowledge and calm control. With sharp gybes and consistent speed, he held the lead throughout, while Poland’s Adam Kelar pushed hard, but had to settle for second, while Max-Emil Krogh Schmidt secured third with a strong finish.
Fin Division Fires Up
As the wind held steady, it was time for the fin racers to hit the water — just pure fin-powered speed.
U21 Fin Girl’s
Bobbi-Lynn de Jong claimed her second win of the day, cementing her status as the queen of Cold Hawaii. Louise van der Meulen and Kit De Jong followed in a tight battle for second.
U21 Fin Boy’s
Brendan Lorho (FMX Racing / S2Maui) was in a class of his own, delivering a dominant performance across all heats. Anton Richter (JP / NeilPryde / Maui Ultra Fins) and Storm Nicolai (Starboard / NeilPryde) pushed hard but couldn’t match Lorho’s pace.
U17 Fin Boy’s
Aytun Ustel lit up the course with explosive starts and surgical precision, while Adam Kelar (POL) and Sonjte Alberto (BON) fought hard for the remaining podium spots.
U15 Fin Boy’s
A thrilling duel unfolded between Arxon Gomperts (Future Fly / Point-7) and Denmark’s Victor Schulz-Jakobsen as they traded leads throughout the day, but Gomperts’ experience gave him the edge. Unfortunately, Mika Henning (Duotone Windsurfing) was forced to withdraw due to a broken wrist — so everyone would like to wish him a speedy recovery.
Looking Ahead to Day 8
Next up is Day 8, with a relaxed start planned — skipper’s meeting at 11:00 in Kabelparken. Forecasts predict 6-12 knots early on, gradually increasing throughout the day. Expect the foil division to lead the charge once again as the action continues in Cold Hawaii.
