2002 PWA Freestyle Special King of the Lake Summary

The final of the 2002 Red Bull King of the Lake was unbelievable and it might have been the best performance of Freestyle Windsurfing ever.

The final of the 2002 Red Bull King of the Lake was unbelievable and it might have been the best performance of Freestyle Windsurfing ever. Nik Baker (Mistral/North) was on fire and pulled out the most difficult moves as Grubbies, Spock 540s and difficult sail tricks, but it was the 17 year old team mate Colin Sifferlen (Mistral/North) from New Caledonia who amazed all spectators by performing the best Freestyle tricks ever seen: it was a firework of freestyle in perfection: apart from traditional tricks he pulled out all kind of Spocks and varieties, a perfect Diabolo and a never seen Swayze Diabolo.

Josh Stone (JP/Neil Pryde), two times World Champion and third place in this event with a brilliant performance as well, said that the performance of Colin was simply shocking.
THE REVOLUTION OF FREESTYLE WINDSURFING, THE TAKEOVER OF THE YOUNG KIDS HAS TAKEN PLACE

KING OF THE LAKE INSIDE VIEW
It was show time at the Red Bull King of the Lake. The complete Freestyle fleet of North Sails joined the party. And it was the first time that our new team riders, the 17 year old Venezuelan kids Alexis Zabala (Fanatic/North) and Douglas Diaz (Fanatic/North), travelled to Europe….and for the first time they wore a wetsuit because in el Yaque; Margarita they always sail in shorts

Thousands of fans came to see the stars who signed tons of posters. The favourite stars of the crowd were the Moreno Twins (Mistral/North), the new Superstar sail and Nik Baker (Mistral/North) plus starlet. And in the night the party went off I can tell you and the riders, like Orjan Jensen (North/Proof) had to take a daily siesta….

The early skippers meetings -here Web Pedrick (AHD/North) at 6.30 a.m. - were quite tough. But even tougher was the fight between Colin Sifferlen and Nik Baker. After the Crowning of the new King Colin showed that he loves too celebrate too.
….LONG LIVE THE KING !!
