Lanes 101

The Maui crew get treated to some seriously heavy conditions as Lanes serves up monster sets and insane Kona winds. Here’s Swifty with a video master class on how to rip when conditions go Richter…

Renowned for hunting down and slaying the biggest waves mother nature can produce, it comes as no surprise to find that Robby Swift was the last man standing at Lanes, after the much revered windsurf break reared its ugly head and delivered monster mast and a half high sets.

Robby Swift: "We had a great couple of days at Lanes recently. The schools and public offices on Maui were all closed due to high winds and danger of structural damage, but the Kona winds turned out to be perfect for windsurfing at Lanes.

It just so happened that a 10-12 foot swell rolled in to coincide with the 35+ knot winds, so it made for a pretty special day. I went out on 4.2 in the morning and then 4.0 in the evening and actually had the whole place to myself, which was a rare treat here on Maui!"

Always on the ball with the media side of things, Swifty’s wasted no time in knocking up one of his typically slick videos, documenting the best parts of Lanes fully firing. Click HERE to enjoy.
