Ménage à trois?

Boujmaa Guilloul talks about the most elusive windsurf move out there, the triple loop.

The triple forward loop has always been talked about within windsurfing circles, but the move really captured peoples imaginations when Ricardo Campello (JP / NeilPryde / MFC) attempted to pull one at the 2008 PWA Pozo World Cup. Despite only completing two and a half rotations, the footage of the maneuver was broadcast globally via international news agencies, and set the record straight on whether the move was physically possible or not.

Three years on and the triple loop remains an unconquered bastion within the professional realm, though don’t go thinking the pros have turned their back on the triple. Right now there’s a handful of pros waiting for the elements to conjure up the perfect conditions to get spinning.

The most direct threat comes from Moroccan revolutionary, Boujmaa Guilloul (Starboard / Severne / MFC / Mystic) who’s been developing equipment specifically tailored for the move. In his words:

“It is going to happen, i believe in it. Lets see in a few days.”
