Umi In England

England’s much revered reef break at the infamous K-Bay delivers the goods for PWA riders Timo Mullen and Jamie Hancock.

We recently reported on Ireland’s Mikey Clancy (Starboard / Severne / MFC) scoring the Emerald Isle in pretty impressive fashion. Well it appears that over the Irish Sea in England they’ve been enjoying their own run of fairly solid conditions.

Over to movie production house, UMI for the rundown:

“I learnt about this spot over twenty years ago from a tiny picture in the first surf shop in Bournemouth. I asked the guy in the shop where it was and he didn’t really want to tell me but after chatting for a while I had pretty much worked it out. I often checked the spot for surfing and then years later for the idea of windsurfing but the conditions it required almost never happen, like once every ten years. I had pretty much forgotten about the place until Jamie Hancock (Tabou / Gaastra) called me saying Timo Mullen (Starboard / Severne) had been on the phone and it looked like this secret spot near Kimmeridge could be on. I was keen to drive over mainly out of curiosity to see if it was the spot from the old photo, although I didn’t really think it would actually be working. However, when I pulled into the car park they were both rigging furiously with expectant grins…

It was a great session, the light was rubbish – shooting into a weak winter sun with hazy, drifting clouds – and the action was a long way out but it was epic all the same. It was cool to share such a rare occurrence of conditions with a couple of friends. I didn’t really expect to make a video form the session, really I thought a couple of rough cuts but in the end it made a nice, different clip. I certainly hope you enjoy it!”

We certainly agree, this is a great clip showing the UK’s south coast at its best.

Thanks to UMI for the clip, check it out HERE.
