IT’S GOING OFF DOWN UNDER

Former world wave sailing champion Scott McKercher proves he has still got the skills as he rips up western Australia.

As the windsurfing season in Europe starts to slow down due to colder days and long dark nights, it’s a different story over in the southern hemisphere. Summer is on its way to western Australia and that means two things, plenty of wind and plenty of swell.

The world famous windsurfing spots of Margaret River, Esperance, Lancelin, Geraldton, Gnarloo and many more are coming alive for the summer and that’s a great reason for Aussie wave sailing icon Scott McKercher (Starboard / Severne) to get out of bed in the morning.

I this video McKercher is destroying the world famous spots with his super powerful bottom turns, insane cut-backs and monster aerials. Check out McKercher as he slays the mighty turquoise waves and throws bucket loads of spray.

Having announced his retirement from PWA competition in 2008, McKercher still couldn’t resist entering the Planet win 365 Tenerife world cup this season when he saw his opponents out on the water. McKercher delivered an incredible performance, using his experience to choose the finest waves that came through in his heats to finish in thirteenth place.
