Kona Time

When the wind switches direction in Maui you certainly know about it!

The winter months are the best time to score incredible windsurfing conditions in Maui as the wind blows almost everyday and the swell pumps 24/7. There is also the increased chance that the island will be hit by a tropical storm.

This February 7th the Kona winds kicked in on the north shore of Maui, timed perfectly with an enormous swell, making for some fierce conditions at Lanes. Waves rolling in around 15-30ft and strong gusty winds provided an extreme day on the water for the worlds best.

The elite crew of Jason Polakow (JP / NeilPryde), Robby Swift (JP / NeilPryde / Maui Ultra Fins), Ross Williams (Tabou / Gaastra) and a whole host of other big names wasted no time before hitting the water. were lucky enough to capture the action and share it with the rest of us, the amazing video features some huge aerials, super aggressive turns and a few crazy wipe-outs as the windsurf dare-devils ride the storm.

Check out the amazing video HERE.
